Things to do, Places to stay,

while in the Kingdom

There are plenty of things to do, just as there are plenty of things you may choose not to do.

Depending on your definition of serenity, Ha'apai is a great escape from everything. Like Niue, your time in Ha'apai can be blissfully spent doing nothing, and a little more nothing.

For those who want to spend money, there are a number of activities and occassions to be at to enjoy the Pacific in Tonga. Vava'u offers a lot for the seafarer, with tropical game fishing, and other watersports. Tongatapu as the political centre holds a lot of the history of Tonga and is often the only stop many visitors make to Tonga. Tofua and its skyline freshwater lake, and the mountainous routes in 'Eua can challenge any hiker (I don't recall anyone mountain biking in these areas, yet.)

To really escape from the hustle and bustle of modern economies, you can't get further away than at the Niuas where you aren't even guaranteed one airflight a month, or the occassional passing boat.

Places to Stay

There are a range of accommodations available on all the islands, from the pampered hotel to the dig in and do your own stuff shacking. As time permits a list of these accommodations will be placed on these web pages for your review and to allow you to make further inquiries with the facilities or with travel centres.
