Shirley Baker's Legacy

Shirley Baker, former missionary to the Kingdom of Tonga, former Premier, adviser to the King, Royal Chaplain, Royal Physician published two papers while in Tonga

Koe Bo'obo'oi as a Tongan Language publication introduced in 1874, and
The Times of Tonga, an English publication was released in 1876

In these publications, Rev. Shirley Baker often discussed political issues, and did not shrink from advocating his controversial opinions. Rev. Baker's support for the government and its various innovations were quite explicit.
