The Tonga Dairy Board has finally begun local production of processed milk at its Small Industries Centre facilities on Sept. 27th. The plant comes into a market inundated with New Zealand produced milk with a very strong Anchor brand. The initial goal is to produce (and supply) a tenth of the daily milk requirements of Tongatapu.

Political Parties - Is it time?
The people have given a clear signal that it's time to form a political party, says Mr. Mahe'uli'uli Tupouniua, No. 2 People's Representative for Tongatapu following a public meeting called to consider the viability of a political party on September 17. "there was no doubt in my mind that … it was time to form the Tonga National Party in Parliament."
Mr. Tupouniua chaired the meeting assisted by Mr. Uili Fukofuka No. 3 People's Representative for Tongatapu and although the meeting was sparse in numbers, the chairman pointed out that it was a representive sampling of the different and varied needs of the people, and he expected further growth in the idea with time.

Minister of Police prints reply
The Minister for Police has printed his response to People's Representative for Tongatapu 'Akilisi Pohiva's questions about the validity of the multiple passports supposedly being used by Mr. Sam Ling Wong. The Minister's response explains that the issuance of a new passport does not automatically demand the retention by Immigrations officials of earlier passports. In the event the traveller has multiple entry visas in passports that have been filled, run out of space for visas, it is the customary practise to allow the traveller to retain earlier, still valid, passports.
The Minister's response, as printed by the papers, does not directly address the issues in Mr. Pohiva's open letter, but points out that it is possible that Mr. Wong's four passports are all valid, considering Mr. Wong is a well travelled individual and likely has many visas distributed among his different passports.
