Book Reviews and Samples will try to collect reviews and samples of publications on Tonga or by Islanders to share.

If you would like a review you have written to be published here, or have a sample of work for others to see, please e-mail a copy and I will be glad to put it up.

Submitting Documents

I am no publisher, and offer this service for the sharing value it may provide(hopefully people may be interested enough to buy copies of these works and learn more about their neighbours in the Pacific.)

Just send an electronic copy of what you think should be included in these pages, and specify which publishing preference you would choose. If the layout of your document is a key component of the message then you may prefer to submit the HTML page you would like included or submit a binary copy of your document (MSWord, WordPerfect etc.) to be converted into a PDF file.

Maintaining integrity.

To ensure integrity of electronically published works, documents can be

HTML publications with digital signatures or,
Acrobat 3.0 PDF documents or,
published as both digitally signed Web Pages and Acrobat 3.0 PDF files.

Web Pages have the broadest electronic reader base but lacks the formatting, indexing, control facilities that Acrobat PDF files provide. By using Digital Signatures published Web Pages can be verified with the signature for file corruption during transmission or through tampering. The Signature files used in this service are text files created and verifiable with Philip Zimmerman's freely available Pretty Good Privacy(tm) program.

Pretty Good Privace(tm) is freely available on the internet although there are possible restrictions on which releases can be used within the United States. PGP is available for Macintosh, MS-DOS, Unix, OS/2 and a number of other operating systems.

Adobe's Acrobat 3.0 PDF (Portable Document Format,) can be viewed and printed using Adobe System's Acrobat Reader. Acrobat Reader is freely available/downloadable for Macintosh, OS/2, Windows NT, and Unix but requires the reader to have a graphics display. The advantage of PDF files for the publisher/writer is that it can be read and printed but it cannot be modified (including fonts, layout) without the original document.
